Season Recap: Baseball

With only two returning varsity players and many sophomores new to the team, Head Varsity Baseball Coach
Craig McLaughlin said his overarching goal this spring has been to supply his 14 players with as much experience
as possible. This season’s roster was short due to athletes participating in outside-of-school sports like football,
hockey, and soccer that are not traditionally in the spring but didn’t run in the fall or winter, Coach McLaughlin
said.

The players have spent their afternoons practicing at school and refining their skills through a rigorous
program of baseball scrimmages within the team and team-building exercises, Coach McLaughlin said. Fridays
and Saturdays they’ve devoted to 19 games against nine other schools. Before their final two games, the team had
a record of 7-9-1.

“We started off the season very well and faced tougher competition as [it] progressed,” player Alex Sandell ’23
said. “Each practice, we show up and work hard; no one is slouching, and it has been reflected in our program.
We haven’t done as well as we could, but we have a lot of talent. We were a little unlucky with COVID and
uncontrollables.”
