“It was nice to feel included. Now, in the tennis season, this experience makes the team feel like a team,” Girls’ Varsity Tennis (GVT) player Caroline Chung ’29 said, reflecting on her first Upper School sports trip.
From March 23-27, the GVT team traveled to Orlando, Florida for their annual preseason trip, where they trained for 10 hours across three days.
Caroline said a highlight of the trip was playing at the United States Tennis Association’s facilities, where she got advice from elite coaches.
“We had structured practices with professionals who train athletes that go pro in tennis,” she said. “It was really nice to hear what they had to say and their instructions.”
Outside of practice, the team spent time together cooking meals, visiting a waterpark and completing escape rooms. GVT player Sophie Reynolds ’28 said these activities helped them grow as a group before returning for the start of the season.
“You get to spend time together the whole day, instead of just an hour or two of practice. You really learn a lot about each other.”
