“The relationships I built with students, coworkers, faculty and staff here — that’s definitely the hardest part about leaving,” Upper School (US) Associate Director of Athletics and Girls’ Varsity Basketball (GVBB) Head Coach Kindyll Dorsey said.
Coach Dorsey first joined the school in 2013 as the GVBB coach before leaving in 2014 to earn her master’s in leadership education. She rejoined the US four years later.
“I kept in touch with former players and coworkers,” she said. “So when this position at BB&N came up, it was a no-brainer because I loved my time before.”
Some of Coach Dorsey’s favorite memories came from the Head of the Charles weekend, attending the quiz shows, volunteering at a Hackathon, lacrosse trips to Florida and getting to know the girls’ basketball teams on and off the court.
“I love getting out to campus events and supporting our students,” she said. “I’ll miss the everyday connections with faculty and staff as well. Whether it be a quick drop-in, office talk or working together on various events and day-to-day work.”
Coach Dorsey said she is looking forward to her next chapter.
“I am excited to live in D.C. I’ll be working with a dear friend of mine now. She is the head basketball coach at George Washington University, and I’ll be her assistant,” she said.
She said the community in the US is what made her time so meaningful.
“It really is, at the end of the day, the people in your life. That’s always been number one for me,” she said.
