Carrying on Marina Keegan’s ’08 legacy, the Marina Keegan Fellowship is an opportunity for Upper School (US) students to pursue projects centered around art and activism. Marina excelled academically at the US and went on to Yale, where she wrote “The Opposite of Loneliness,” a series of essays and stories, and contributed to The New Yorker.
This year, Olivia Richter and Charlotte Garrity (both ’26) were selected as Marina Keegan fellows. Olivia plans to interview and photograph women and women of color with the goal of creating a book that will be donated to schools around the world. Collecting clothing donations, Charlotte will upcycle the clothes into themes related to negative fast fashion outcomes. Charlotte plans to photograph students modeling the clothes and create paintings for each theme, educating students on fast fashion and consumerism’s impacts on the climate.
