Community calls for reflection and reform

David Min and Dylan Higgins

With the spread of COVID-19 this past year, the United States has seen a rise in anti-Asian hate crimes. According to a national report by Stop AAPI
Hate, a nonprofit that has tracked incidents between March 19, 2020, and February 28, 2021, 68% of anti-Asian discrimination involved verbal abuse,
20.5% involved deliberate avoidance, 11% involved physical attack, and 8.5% involved a civil rights infringement, like refusal of service. In light of this
difficult climate, The Vanguard offered community members this space to share their thoughts and feelings about anti-Asian bias.
